The Clifford H. Smart Middle School girls’ cross country team etched its name in the record books on Thursday, October 26, at the MHSAA Regional Championship meet.

The Trojans took home their first regional title in school history, as well as the first ever at the middle school level within Walled Lake Consolidated Schools. Eliana Fredrick was Smart’s top finisher, second overall, clocking the 3200 meter race in 12:35.00. Fredrick, Quinn Blewitt, Alyssa Dayton and Kara Alt earned All-Region honors.

Along with winning the regional title, the girls also had a perfect 7-0 record this season, won the Lakes Valley Conference Championship, and finished second overall at the Oakland County Championship.
