Clifford H. Smart Middle School runner wins Detroit Free Press Kids Marathon

Clifford H. Smart Middle School’s Tyler Medrano claimed the kids’ marathon title in the 48th annual Detroit Free Press Marathon.
Medrano, who finished runner-up last year, crossed the finished line first after clocking an impressive 5:29 mile. The kid’s marathon is completed in two phases: 25 miles beforehand and then they run the final mile downtown to finish the race.
“It felt great to win this year,” said Medrano. “I have been motivated all year to finish first since I was runner up at last year’s race. I’ve stayed focused on working hard and improving my time.”
